Walk on Dartmoor: Saturday 20 April

An opportunity to walk in the Dartmoor National Park and see some of its landscape and nature. On this trip we will do a circular 2.5 hour walk (approx 3.5 miles) from Okehampton railway station. We will walk by the East Okement river and then up to East Hill where we should have views over Dartmoor and northwards to North Devon. We will walk through woodland and across meadows. Those coming must wear suitable clothing - shoes with good grip, a jumper or fleece and a waterproof coat. Please note that there are some short but steep uphill sections. The ground may also be wet or muddy and Dartmoor can feel much colder than Exeter. The walk will be led by experienced Dartmoor walkers who will show you the way and talk a little but about the moor. The event is free but you will need to buy your own rail ticket - a return from Central Station, Exeter to Okehampton. This costs £8.80 or less with a young person's railcard. Please carry water with you and bring any snacks you need to keep you walking. There are toilets at Okehampton station and a very good cafe. We will stop at the cafe before catching the train back to Exeter. Please keep to the event's schedule: - 11.15 am Meet at Exeter Central Station - 11.31 am Catch the train to Okehampton from Exeter Central Station - 12.17 pm Arrive Okehampton and begin walk - 4.25 pm Catch train to Exeter Central - 5.08 pm Arrive Exeter Central Station
