Tree Folklore Walk

Tower Hamlets Cemetery Park

London

About

In this workshop, we’ll be communing with the forest by discussing folklore from all over the world and across history. Humans have always related to the land by telling stories. It's crucial that these stories don't go extinct. We’ll walk through Tower Hamlets Cemetery park as a group and meet an array of tree species in turn. We’ll be talking about tree folklore in its most encompassing sense - tales, rituals, customs, beliefs, traditional medicines and spells. Expect everything from Elder Witches to Weeping Poplars. We can also throw in some history, plus identification tips so that you can leave with enough knowledge to find these trees by yourself. This workshop aims to be a collective endeavour. Bring your ideas, opinions and your own stories along. There will be space for us all to talk about how storytelling can help us to care for ourselves and our ecosystems. Your opinions are most welcome. If there’s anything we can do to make sure you feel comfortable attending, please get in touch.
