The Somerville JCR MCR SCR Charity Concert

Welcome to the Somerville JCR MCR SCR Charity Concert! Join us at the Somerville College Chapel on Wednesday 29 May at 6pm for an evening showcasing talents from students and faculty members across the college collecting money for an important cause. The programme features a wide range of styles and instruments, with covers of pop songs, jazz, classical pieces, and also original compositions by some of our own performers! Piano, violin, guitar, bassoon, drums, solos, duos, quatuors, there will be an instrument and style for every listening ear curious to discover new things or revisit old-time favourites. The proceeds will fully go to the Gaza emergency fund of Save the Children. Save the Children is a UK-based charity that provides relief for children in endangered zones. In these dramatic times of war, children of Gaza suffer from unmentionable danger and violence and their need for humanitarian assistance is dire. Money donated to the emergency fund gets directly to the ground to help the team provide medical supplies, food, shelter for children in Gaza. We were lucky to welcome them earlier this term for a panel discussion to hear more about the amazing work they are doing, as well as the grave difficulties they face on a daily basis. These initiatives have been greatly supported by the student body of the JCR and MCR, who have both published statements of solidarity with Gaza. The tickets are free with a suggested donation. Please feel free to donate as much as you can for this charity event, and come and show your support to this essential cause. We recommend £10 donation for students and £20 for non-students.
