About

University of Exeter Classics Society Annual Play 2023- THE CLOUDS by Aristophanes Thursday 16th, Friday 17th, Saturday 18th March, doors 7:00pm, performance 7:30pm. Strepsiades' life is falling apart. Faced with a mountain of debt, a useless son, and an unloving wife, he sets out on a crusade to put his life back together (or at least get rid of his debt collectors). Enrolling at the famous Thinkery, he meets a young Plato, famous corruptor of minds, Socrates, and The Clouds: the new gods. With their help, will he succeed? Or will their efforts go up in flames? Come along to see the Classics Society perform one of the funniest and most scathing satires of knowledge, age and academia, and perhaps you shall be rewarded with the answer. And who knows, there might be a special guest added in along the way... Please note that the third night (18th March) is the traditional informal performance where we encourage the cast to have fun with the script. Age guidance: 15+ Run time: approx. 1h 30 min + 15 min interval *Trigger warning: this production deals with themes of financial stress, death, and extreme rahness*
