About

Our Year 14 course is an intensive half-day course, developed to give students the opportunity to hone their interview skills and prepare for the final hurdle of the application process. Our team of medical student volunteers will guide students through different interview formats used by UK medical schools and help prepare attendees for some of topical and ethical issues they may face in interviews. Most importantly, attendees will take part in mock interviews, in both the traditional and multiple mini interview (MMI) format, receiving individual feedback from current medical students. Our focus is on maximising the success of students in Northern Ireland applying to medical schools across the United Kingdom. Designed and delivered by current UK medical students, we have drawn upon our personal experiences, along with Year 13 and 14 school students, medical students and doctors, to develop a course that is targeted at the most challenging aspects of the interview process to increase your success. All profits made from running our courses is donated to our chosen charities (Students Working Overseas Trust and the Royal Medical Benevolent Fund). Since 2016, we have helped more than 1000 Year 13 and 14 students from across Northern Ireland navigate their way through the medical school application process, providing tips and advice from our own experiences how to make the most out of their application, all whilst raising money for charity. We have a suggested donation of £30 for this course. This is the suggested price we have calculated to cover expenses for the day and a donation to our chosen charities however it is our strong belief that financial status should not put you at a disadvantage when it comes to applying to medical school so we only ever ask that you donate what you can. Due to the nature of FIXR, we offer a range of tickets with differing donation amounts. Please purchase the ticket that best matches the quantity you would like to donate, if you are able to donate. Free tickets with no donation are also available. All tickets types allow the same admission to the course. If you can no longer attend the course please let us know as soon as possible so we can offer it to a student on our waitlist.
