The North East’s own Jack Speight, also known as Scrannabis, is a local lad who turned his passion into a profession. His career started when he decided to cure his boredom after getting sent to his room for misbehaving as a “bairn”. Realising he had time to kill, Speight decided to get creative and use music as his escape. After getting fired up from hearing Eminem’s ‘Curtain Call’ and finding a cure for his boredom, Speight has gone on to build an ever-growing career for himself in the music scene. When it comes to his music, he is very much about keeping it real lyrically with him choosing to stay close to him inspiration wise. He prefers not to hit on subjects that he hasn’t had personal experience with saying: ‘Keeping everything close and relevant to you allows you to really explore more ground lyrically and emotionally because there’s a pre-existing connection already”.
