📣 Join the Business of Art Society for a private tour of Saatchi Yates Gallery! LIMITED SPOTS AVAILABLE! * We are proud to announce that the Business of Art Society is partnering with Saatchi Yates gallery. Our first event will be a private tour of the gallery’s current show of artworks by Neil Stokoe, conducted by art dealer and public speaker Sophie Muprhy. Sophie will present Stokoe’s works and discuss Saatchi Yates gallery as a whole. * Saturday 17th of February Saatchi Yates, 14 Bury Street, SW1Y 6AL 2 available time slots: 12pm and 3PM * Stokoe has long been seen as the hidden giant of the ‘Golden Circle’ at the Royal College of Art with David Hockney, Frank Bowling, R.B.Kitaj, Allen Jones, and Patrick Caulfield among his contemporaries. Despite the encouragement of his close friend Francis Bacon to exhibit his paintings, he avoided the vibrant London art world of the 1960’s – leaving him largely unknown today. Only after retirement in 2002 did Stokoe first reveal any of his work. The exhibition will be Stokoe’s first solo show since his passing in 2019. Featuring fourteen major paintings from his estate, some of which have never been on display, this exhibition captures the essence and evolution of Stokoe’s work across multiple decades. Sophie Murphy is an art dealer, interviewer & public speaker working with Saatchi Yates since May 2023. Prior to this, Sophie founded her own dealership in 2018 curating exhibitions internationally, and previously worked as a radio & podcast host, interviewing leading contemporary artists such as NYC based Emma Stern and Irish mixed-media artist Dorothy Cross. Originally from Dublin, Sophie has a BA, MA in Philosophy, and an MSc in Interactive Media from Trinity College, Dublin. * The tour will last 30mins, followed by 30mins of Q&A. * Register (free)!
