The Collapse of the Wave Function by Sir Roger Penrose

Andrew Wiles Building

About

Sir Roger Penrose is a mathematical physicist and Emeritus Rouse Ball Professor of Mathematics at the University of Oxford. In 1988 he received the Wolf Prize in Physics, which he shared with Stephen Hawking for the Penrose–Hawking singularity theorems. In 2020, He received the Nobel Prize in Physics “for the discovery that black hole formation is a robust prediction of the general theory of relativity”. In this talk, he will introduce his challenging views on the collapse of the wave function, and offer his personal insights into the philosophy of quantum mechanics and beyond. Note: -The event is free for summit attendees, but this will be checked. -Ticket fees all go towards covering venue costs.
