Outdoor Training Tickets

This March we will be running 2 outdoor training sessions with Damien (the guy who ran the committee training). Damien is a professional climbing instructor with over 20 years of experience. The committee training was great fun & hugely helpful so we thought it would be a good idea to offer something similar to you guys. We will be running two sessions, one for beginners and one advanced. Both sessions will take place in Dalkey quarry. Beginners session: Sunday 10/03 The beginners session will be open to club members of all levels of experience. The main focus of this will be to give you an introduction to climbing outdoors and teach you some of the skills necessary to start climbing outdoors yourself, such as top-rope anchor set-up & personal safety at the crag. (For anyone thinking of running for committee next year, some training with Damien would probably look good for your campaign). We will provide any necessary equipment. Climbing shoes are strongly recommended (but a pair of flat, comfortable shoes will do) There are 8 spots & it will cost €12 each. Advanced session: Sunday 17/03 The advanced session will be aimed at our more experienced members, ideally people with some experience of trad climbing. You must have a lead belay license with us and will need your own harness, climbing shoes and ATC. Damien will probably decide on exactly what to cover based on the experience of the people signed up but it will likely include trad single/multi pitch & self rescue techniques. There are 4 spots & it will cost €24 each.
