About

Misscoteque invites all women, non-binary and trans folk to come DANCE OUTSIDE THE BOX with NIMMO this Nov 12th at Lost Horizon.* NIMMO are a queer London-based dance music duo who write, produce and perform cathartic, joyful music that celebrates queer love in all its forms. They are joining us for our November show, serving up our first ever LIVE GIG, accompanied by a selection of queer DJs bringing you the signature Missco madness you already know and love. As an androgynous, lesbian, electronic pop duo, Nimmo have always championed dancing outside the box. They have forged a sound that defies musical boundaries and pushes the limits of queer and lesbian representation in a music industry where, as they put it, ‘there’s not enough spaces for lesbians who aren’t femme to confidently explore themselves!’ For our November show, Misscoteque are curating a space in which to celebrate identities which break away from binaries and boxes, asking questions such as: What even is a lesbian? How do we define queer love? What the heck is a DJ? And Wtf is a club night? We encourage you to come to the event dressed in some form that expresses and celebrates a vision of your unique identity, an identity that won’t be tied down or stuffed inside a rigid box. As well as NIMMO’s live set, you’ll be treated to the sounds of DJ Ammi, Emmy and TAMTAM (Bristol debut), packing their finest disco, queer pop edits, and club-ready sexy bangers to ensure you’ll be vibing, jiving, and dancing outside the box from 10pm–3am. *To be clear, cis men are not invited to the party! ——————————————————————— Misscoteque is a monthly queer night that builds on the legacy of the underground Bristol 80s lesbian disco scene and attempts to reimagine it at louder sonic and aesthetic volumes, whilst nurturing its empowering spirit. Tickets for this event cost £12 and are available via Headfirst, RA, Skiddle, fixr, and Fatsoma. AS ALWAYS, please contact [email protected] if you cannot afford this and you will be given a free one. Please respect that this concession is for those in less financially comfortable positions and also that minority groups will be prioritised. If you can, please consider paying forward a little extra, to help us offer free tickets to those who are less financially secure. Of course this is not an expectation, just a suggestion and a step towards our goal of creating as inclusive a space as possible. Funk the patriarchy!
