Mata ni Pachedi means - behind the mother goddess. It is a cloth that serves as a temple of the goddess. Historically, the nomadic Vaghari community from Gujarat who worshipped Mata were not allowed to enter temples, they created their own places of worship with drawings of the Mother Goddess (Mata) on pieces of cloth.
