About

LONDON > Edinburgh (+ Durham, Alnwick & Holy Island) ▬ Who are we? ▬ Travel Bear is a student-founded and student-led organisation that puts together awesome weekend trips from London. Our goal is simple: to take students and young professionals to explore stunning sites, palaces and landscapes all over the UK and beyond. Do it for the location. Do it for the memories. Do it for the new friends you are about to make and experiences. ▬ Where are we travelling to? ▬ EDINBURGH {with stops @ Durham Cathedral, Alnwick Castle & Holy Island} Welcome to an intense and fun-packed three-day weekend trip to Edinburgh, the capital of Scotland, and, in some people’s eyes, the most beautiful city in the world. Edinburgh, as you will come to see, is home of Hogwarts. Not only was it home to JK Rowling but also to inspiration for several characters. In keeping with that theme, we start our journey early Friday morning with a first scheduled stop at Durham Cathedral where several scenes from Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. And if you are a fan of comics, Avengers: Endgame was filmed here too. Our next stop is Alnwick Cathedral where not only the Quidditch scenes from the Harry Potter series were filmed but also the Christmas series of another famous British film export, Downton Abbey. After a full day taking-in these sites, we head to Edinburgh to check into our hostel for the night. Saturday, we begin the day with a guided walking tour of the beautiful city of Edinburgh taking in sites such as Prince’s Street, Prince’s Street Gardens, Calton Hill, The Elephant House (where JK Rowling wrote the first Harry Potter book), Bobby Greyfriars, Old Town, Holyrood Palace, etc. After the guided tour, you get free time to enjoy the city and a night out on the town, if you so desire. Sunday, on our way back to London, we stop at another stunning location – Holy Island. Lindisfarne (or Holy Island) is a tidal island believed to be the birthplace of celtic Christianity in the UK. It is an oasis of calm and beauty and we will head over to the island to take-in its sites. ▬ PROGRAMME ▬ ★ Date .............................................. 20-22 October ★ Departure Time .................... 4:00AM ★ Departure Point ....................
