VENUE: Research Centre (Thatched Barn), Christ Church College
OUSS has the pleasure to host an interview with Ottoline Leyser (DBE FRS), the CEO of the UK Research and Innovation (UKRI), the organisation that manages the funding for scientific research across the UK.
TITLE: Science, uncertainty and the joy of being wrong
ABSTRACT: Popular conceptions of science and scientists can discourage people from contributing to science and can make being a scientist more stressful. In contrast to popular stereotypes, science typically benefits from collaborative open-minded problem solving, which is appealing to many and supports positive working environments. It is therefore important that we both incentivise and raise the profile of this approach to science.
