It feels like an age since my roadblock with Alena Arpels back in February 2022, so I am itching to be back at the Crofters Rights with another party and a very Special Guest DJ. Hot Buttered Soul presents.. Mike Shawe and Special Guest Dom Ore (Miles Away records) Expect Deep Disco, Boogie, Funk, Modern Soul, Gospel DJ, label founder, music nerd. Over the last seven years Dom has been fast establishing himself as one of London’s finest DJs and label owners. Beginning his career as a label manager at Acid Jazz, Dom was a soul music apprentice to DJs and label owners Eddie Piller and Dean Rudland. Working with artists such as Leroy Hutson, The Brand New Heavies and Matt Berry contributed to Dom’s comprehensive of and obsession with soul music. Only 5 years later, in 2019, Dom founded Miles Away Records. The label set out with a mission to reissue soulful music from all over the world on vinyl. The label has gone from strength to strength, with releases: Patience by Rokk; It’s Time For A Change by Lamont Butler and Dancing Close by Rita Joyce receiving critical acclaim (from Gilles Peterson and Colleen ‘Cosmo’ Murphy) and establishing the label as one of this generation’s most exciting soul labels. Alongside his own label, Dom now works in partnership with legendary labels such as Brunswick, Easy Street, P&P Disco & Sleeping Bag, enabling their legendary artists and tracks to reach new generations and audiences. Between hosting a fortnightly radio show on Soho Radio and contributing DJ mixes for the likes of Huey Morgan and Craig Charles on BBC 6 Music, Dom can be found DJing across London and the UK with shows at Glastonbury, Pickle Factory, Corsica Studios, Bussey Building and Brixton Jamm.
