Hispanic Society Madrid Trip 2024

Madrid

About

We hope you are as excited as we are to visit Madrid in April! The information here should contain everything you need to know, but if you still have questions, do not hesitate to contact us at [email protected]. This trip is due to take place between the 14th and 18th of April. Bear in mind you are not limited to staying in Spain for only these days - this is just the period where accommodation and activities will be provided by the Hispanic Society in Madrid. Due to limited space, we are only considering Hispanic Society members over the age of 18 for the trip. International students are welcome, but be advised that if your home country does not have a visa exemption agreement with Spain, you will be responsible for the attainment of a Spanish visa. Your ticket entitles you to the following: • Accommodation at the Way Hostel Madrid for four nights • Daily activities, including walking tours, pub crawls, cultural sightseeing and tapas tasting • Daily churros & coffee for breakfast • Basic group travel insurance, subject to excess on an individual basis. What is not included but required: • Flights to and from Madrid, see section below for details. • Lunch and dinner, for which we recommend bringing no less than €30 a day • An EHIC/GHIC if you are a UK citizen • For international students whose home country does not have a visa exemption agreement with Spain, the price of your Spanish visa. Check if that could be you here. We recommend buying your flights as early as possible, to avoid last minute price increases. The cheapest options are: London: Ryanair return from Stansted Or Gatwick (£40) Bristol: Ryanair outbound and Easyjet inbound (£60) Liverpool: Ryanair return (£50) Manchester: Iberia Express outbound, Ryanair inbound (£65) Birmingham: Ryanair return (£70) Note that Exeter airport and Newquay Cornwall airport do not run direct flights to Madrid. The best and cheapest option is travelling from Bristol. When your flight arrives in Madrid, there are a number of ways you can get to the hostel. The metro only costs €4.50 whereas a taxi could charge €25. Pip, Pablo, and Max from the society committee will have already arrived ready to greet you and help settle in. You can check in to the hostel all day, although your room will only be ready after 3pm. You are not required to bring towels, as the hostel provides them for €2 per person. You are advised to bring a padlock for your locker, although the hostel sells them if you forget. We will arrange a female only dorm and two mixed gender dorms. Where possible we will accommodate friend groups staying in the same dorms. This information is preliminary and could be subject to change. All updates will be posted on our WhatsApp and Instagram, so keep an eye! Again, if you still have questions, do not hesitate to contact us at [email protected].
