About

Gary Stewart is a singer/songwriter from Perthshire, who cut his teeth performing on the Leeds music scene for 15 years, before moving to York where he currently resides. Stewart writes songs in the Folk/Pop vein and is influenced by the Folk Artists of the '60's and '70s. The Scottish Songsmith has released four Albums to date, his latest, 'Lost, Now Found', was self-recorded, produced and released in June 2021. The debut single, 'Leopard' received steady A-List radio play on YO1 Radio, BBC Radio Scotland , and Amazing Radio and last year another song from the Album, 'Tu Eres Mi Media Naranja', was played on Mark Radcliffe's Folk Show. The second single, 'Hot To Trot', features backing vocals from Rosie Doonan (Birdy/Peter Gabriel). When not performing his music, the multi-instrumentalist busies himself fronting his reworking of Paul Simon's Classic Album, 'Graceland', with a seven-piece band that has played many a Theatre and Festival, including Shrewsbury, Towersey, Costa Del Folk, Moonbeams and Underneath The Stars to name but a few. Gary cites Simon as his chief musical influence and grew up learning and performing the extensive canon of songs from this legendary New York singer/songwriter. Expect to hear classic tunes like ‘The Boxer', 'Mrs, Robinson', Me & Julio Down By The Schoolyard', 'Kodachrome', 'Graceland', 'The Obvious Child' alongside lesser-known 'deep cuts', such as 'Song For The Asking', 'Duncan' and more. 'That's Pop with Pizzaz' - For Folks Sake 'Reminiscent of a 1960's bedsit-era Paul Simon' - Northern Sky 'Definitely onto a winner' - This Is Fake D.I.Y HUB Customer saw Gary’s matinee sesh at Green Note yesterday and commented as follows...Gary Stewart was amazing singing with his guitar and nothing more. It was a lovely 2 hours (apart from the hard wobbly knackered seats which did my back in!) Gary is excellent without backing music or singers but I guess the question is… would that kind of entertainment rock the boat of HUB CLUB goers? Well, let’s see… Tickets are £15 (£17.50 OTD) and can be purchased via the ‘Get Tickets’ button or the BOX OFFICE on 07770 636303. Look forward to this one… KEEPING IT LIVE!
