St Giles Cathedral plays host to the inaugural Edinburgh Royal Mile International Piano Series. This exciting and prestigious new concert series will feature all 32 of Beethoven's Piano Sonatas throughout 2024. Featuring exceptional performances from leading UK and international pianists, these concerts will be an unrivalled opportunity to enjoy some of the world's greatest piano repertoire, as curated by our guest performers. Set in the stunning candlelit venue of St Giles Cathedral, with it's newly installed Steinway Grand Piano, this will be a musical experience to remember! St Giles is situated in the heart of the Royal Mile with many bars and restaurants nearby to complete your evening. Pianist Christina Lawrie Programme  Beethoven - Sonata No.1 in F minor  Beethoven - Sonata No.27 in E minor  Schumann -  Symphonic Etudes Op. 13 About Christina Lawrie Christina enjoys an exciting and varied career as soloist, song pianist and chamber musician. Career highlights include solo recitals for Wigmore Hall; Purcell Room; Leeds International Concert Season; St. George's, Bristol; Perth Concert Hall; Grieg Concerto with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, and live performances for BBC Radio 3 and BBC Radio Scotland as well as filmed performances of music by Beethoven and Ravel for BBC Bitesize.   Christina has won a host of accolades on a national and international level. She was a finalist in the Royal Overseas League Piano Competition in London, the Madrid International Piano Competition “ Compositores de España” and a prizewinner at the Marsala International Piano Competition.  Christina is a graduate of Cambridge University, the RCM and RAM. She studied with Sergei Babayan, Joan Havill, Vanessa Latarche and Yonty Solomon. She is a member of staff at the Royal College of Music Junior Department, and also works as a staff accompanist in the RCM Vocal department.
