CUGC Trial Flights 6th March 2023

If you want to join CUGC, you must have previous flying experience. One such way of obtaining said experience is by undertaking a trial flight. We are running trial flights throughout the academic year. Timeslots Depending on your availability, you will be assigned to one of the following slots: Slot Departure Return (Conservative Estimates) AM 08:00 14:00 PM 12:00 18:00 Types of Trial Flights There are two types of trial flights: those done on a glider (no engine), and those done in a motorglider (which has an engine). Below you will find more details about these. Glider Trial Flights: - Includes one winch launch (click here for more information) -Approximate flight time: 5-10 min. -Transport to and from the airfield is included in the cost -Cost: 50 GBP (cheapest option) Motorglider Trial Flights: -Includes one flight (self-launched, like a plane) -Approximate flight time: 20 min. -Transport to and from the airfield is included in the cost -Cost: 80 GBP (best value) Health Requirements By law, you must fulfil some health requirements in order to go on trial flights. These will be disclosed later in the form. Allocations An allocation email will be sent approximately one week before the scheduled trial flight. If chosen, you will have 24 hours from the time you receive the allocation email to confirm your place and pay for your trial flight. Failure to do this will result in your slot being given to someone else. Allocations are not done on a first-come-first-serve basis. Please answer our questions truthfully. Only ONE trial flight is allowed per person. If you have done a trial flight with us before, your application will be discarded.
