Facing off for this round we have: Melon X The Housemates Vs Asphyxia MELoN & The Housemates is an explosive live outfit led by the artist MELoN, who’s shows turn the smallest of venues into rocking fun houses. Since forming officially in the autumn of 2023, MELoN and his Housemates have created a sound that is uniquely their own, blending elements of rock, reggae, punk and HipHop with noisy guitar riffs and attacking drums. Since first hearing Thin Lizzy’s “Live and Dangerous” at age 6, the self taught artist quickly developed his own thrashy style, that has seen him sell out venues across the East and West of Ireland. MELoN & The Housemates have a live show that can be chaotic and loud, whilst also being intimate and humble, something which needs to be seen to be believed. What started out as one person performing at open mics, stealing pizza slices and busking on the streets of Galway, Ireland, has since become a powerhouse that can keep an audience hanging on every note until the last dance of the night. We are Asphyxia, a 4 piece band from Mayo and Galway, borrowing elements from various genres such as, Punk, Garage Rock, Ska, and even Jungle D&B, we put everything together in a sloppy scuffed mess that we’ve grown to describe as Dole-Core! A common feature in all of our songs are trashy guitar riffs alongside driving rhythms and raw vocals, which we perform with a special kind of messy energetic passion, we aim to have the audience pick up on the messy energy we put out with every song and fire it right back at us!!
