About

Dogs among fairies! atlas-eaters! gentlemen of wounds! join us yet again in the half-way house for an evening of penny-eyed, skull-footed poetry, a-bed with Capricorn and Cancer. The matter is much the same as the prequel. Cradle-scraping, feather-roots, unbuttoned bones: hiding-out from the wind at the black stairs’ feet. The locale, anyhow, is not: the half-way house has migrated to the Council Chamber of Oxford Town Hall. You are invited to our little Lebensraum on Wednesday, March 15. The format will combine ‘open mic’ and scheduled readings. Readings will be divided up into manageable helpings, so that the audience has space to attend to each poet’s work fully. There will be time for drinking both before and after the readings. Please arrive by 6:45pm, as we we expect to begin directly at 7pm. Apply to read by sending up to three poems to [email protected], along with your name in the subject line. Stand-outs will be chosen for reading on the night, but per the above, there will be ‘open mic’ space for late-comers and others who feel the sudden impulse to read. Applications to read can be doubled as submissions to the forthcoming first issue of The Burner’s publication. To submit for consideration to the publication, simply indicate in the body of the email. Now the half-way winds groan anew. In a walking-word I leave you, making Christward (or Graveward) until the time appointed. We hope to see you then, Altarwise by owl-light in the half-way house.
