A Night of Queer Music

About

Have you ever listened to a classic love song and thought, 'wouldn't this be better if it were gay?' So, Vanguard Productions brings you A Night of Queer Music. Produced by Deborah Acheampong and directed by Adrienne Knight, the concert will run for two nights at Holywell Music Room (30th and 31st of May). It reimagines all that you think you know of musical theatre, opera and jazz. You will hear everything from 'Suddenly Seymour', 'Phantom of the Opera', 'Light My Candle', 'I Can Hear the Bells', to Bizet's Habanera and Musetta's Waltz. A Night of Queer Music rejuvenates well-known songs to illuminate their underlying queer narratives, taking these stories and making them ours. The concert also features original settings to fragments of Sappho's poetry, composed by Adrienne Knight. Expect astounding vocals, a live band, and striking, gender-flipped takes on some of your favourite musicals. It will be a queer night to remember! Please arrive in good time for the performance, which begins at 7:30 PM on both nights. Duration: 2 hours, 15 mins interval ------ If you would like to cancel your ticket, please email [email protected] at least 24 hours before the show.
