Methinks ’tis time to smile again …’ Set in the 1950s, post-war Illyria, marked by loss, is still finding its way back to joy when a shipwreck brings ‘most wonderful’ chaos to its shores. In a melancholy world that craves merriment, disguises are donned, deceptions are devised, celebration collides with propriety, restraint with defiance and love is in the air, leading to hilarious and emotional outcomes. Join Sun & Moon Theatre in the open air for Shakespeare’s greatest comedy drama, featuring a tight-knit dynamic ensemble, live music, wit, laughter, mistaken identities, love and of course cakes and ale! Suitable for all ages, this is a vibrant production that will delight and entertain – bring chairs and blankets, pack a picnic and join us this season, rain or shine, for some midsummer madness … This will be Sun & Moon Theatre’s fifth summer with Exeter Phoenix, having performed at Rougemont Gardens with A Midsummer Night’s Dream last year to sold out shows, The Winter’s Tale in 2024, Romeo and Juliet in 2023 and Much Ado About Nothing in 2022.
