Thruxton Triple Challenge

Thruxton Triple Challenge

Thruxton Aerodrome, Andover

About

One weekend. Three airfields. Three challenges. Principles of the Triple Challenge • Competitors must complete a short entry form and pay an entry fee online. • The entry fee covers a combined landing fee for each airfield and a charity contribution to Aerobility. • ‘Non-Radio’ aircraft will not be accepted for this competition. • Participants (pilots) must be PIC and land at each airfield - Thruxton (EGHO), Popham (EGHP) and Solent (EGHF) - once over a two-day period (29th - 30th August 2026). • The competition will be open from 09:30 - 16:30 on each of the two days. • Competitors will be given a special ID for competition identification purposes. • Competitors may begin their entry point from any location within the UK and visit any airfield in any order of convenience during the 09:30 - 16:30 time window. Movements outside of these times will be excluded from the results. • Competitors must sign in at each airfield, in person, receiving a token to confirm this has been done. • The competition begins with the first landing at any of the three airfields and the competitor will be identified with their ID on first contact when requesting landing and joining instructions. The Three Challenges Thruxton: Taxi Challenge After vacating the active runway onto the apron, competitors will be directed to a passage control where pilots are required to pass as closely as possible with their starboard wingtip to a frangible obstacle. The closer the pass, the higher the score. Popham: Spot Landing Competition Landing on the numbers of the active runway will result in a maximum score. Observers will measure short or long landings, reducing the score accordingly. Solent: Timed Landing Competition Entering a declared landing time into the Triple Challenge WhatsApp Group before take-off from the preceding airfield. Solent Airport will record the landing time (touchdown) and award scores accordingly. Results and Prizes Tokens collected by the three airfields will be entered into a free prize draw to win 50 litres of fuel. There will be one prize winner for each location, drawn at random from the collected tokens. The spot landing winner will receive a secondary prize, sponsored by Pooleys. The taxi challenge winner will receive a secondary prize, sponsored by Flyer Magazine.
