The Poetry Cabaret A magical evening of music and poetic entertainment in support of Off The Record Twickenham, celebrating community, hope and optimism in these challenging times. The evening will consist of 5 live music events with 6 poetry readings along with an address from Off The Record Twickenham about the fantastic work they do. Her musical inspirations started from Nigerian sounds of her youth and extends from legends Nina Simone, Stevie Wonder and Miles Davis to favourites Jill Scott, Lianne La Havas and India Aire. As a songwriter, she writes songs that resonate and dig beneath the surface. Packing a punch, her songs articulate complicated life experiences in a way that still leaves you feeling light, free and motivated. Her unmatched storytelling shines in her deeply emotional performances. She walks a path that is comfortably and firmly, her own. Her music is personal, self written and rich with intention. Lulu May - @luluverbeek Lulu May is a jazz-influenced vocalist and multi-instrumentalist whose eclectic repertoire spans generations, genres and languages. Known for her contemporary interpretations of classic and modern songs, she blends vintage charm with fresh musicality, creating performances that are elegant, understated and spellbinding. Lulu has performed at some of the UK's most prestigious venues and events, including The Ned, Bacchanalia, Goodwood Revival Festival, Hyde Park Winter Wonderland, The Groucho Club, Soho House, Marriott, Hilton and Four Seasons, bringing her unique sound to audiences across the country. A true lover of music in all its forms, her repertoire journeys effortlessly from Prince to Pulp, Joan Baez to Blondie, Bowie to Billie Holiday, drawing together unexpected influences with style and ease. Singing in multiple languages and inspired by music both old and new, she delights audiences with a setlist that is as diverse as it is engaging.
