The Black Nails and Broken Telephone at The Commons.
The Black Nails, with members Damian Le Sar (guitar, vox), Tal Bruce (drums), Gareth Dawson (guitar) and Janco Yspeert (Bass). Their sound feels like 1950's prom dreamt by David Lynch - slow dance in flickering gymnasium lights, tremolo guitars dissolving into reverb, voices drifting through static and smoke.
Broken Telephone is the brain child of Cape Town-born multi-instrumentalist and poet Neil Büchner Jr. Drawing inspiration from Jazz, post-punk, Hip Hop, Pop, Ambient, and Electronica, the collective weaves together diverse sonic textures to create a sound that’s been described as both erratically energetic and abstractly atmospheric.
Neil is perhaps best known as the frontman of Cape Town art rock band PXLS, who opened the mainstage at the last Endless Daze, performed at Playtopia, toured Gauteng and included members of Sold Ash and Suenos.
Neil will be joined by his ever-talented collaborators and bandmates:
Ethan Immanuel Pelser (E.IM) – Guitar, sampler, synth, bass, backing vocals
Ryan Stopforth (Slow Burn) – Synth, guitar, backing vocals
