This documentary directed by Questlove (of ‘The Roots’) takes an in-depth look at the 1969 Harlem Cultural Festival through a series of period footage as well as interviews with different artists that were present. Far less known than Woodstock despite featuring hugely influential artists like Stevie Wonder and Nina Simone, Summer of Soul shines a light on a major cultural event previously forgotten to time. Screened in collaboration with the UoE Business School Global Festival, celebrating Black History Month.
