ROOTED (f) with yourfriendofjazz

UManyano Lwe Jazz presents Inherited Frequencies: ROOTED with yourfriendofjazz. A day of conversation around sound, design, and visual culture exploring what we inherit, how we interpret it, and what we carry forward. ULJ is an independent cultural institution, festival platform and creative gathering founded in the love music, community and cultural exchange. Alongside its flagship festival, the road to their milestone edition this year includes a series of community activations that extends the festival’s curatorial thinking into new spaces and bringing music into conversation with memory, design, places and other forms of cultural practice. For Design Week South Africa, the festival turns its attention to sound and design: looking at the decisions, disciplines, and design languages that sit behind a music festival, and challenging the idea that design begins and ends with what we see and experience on the day. ULJ opens up its process through conversation, collective listening, and five years of its own visual archive. Programme: 11:00-14:00: In conversation with friends of the festival across curation and creative collaborators moderated by Thuto Vilakazi. Topic: Design in Music. 14:00-17:30: Vinyl Sets ft. friends of the festival over the years

17:30-19:00: Bring and Play a Vinyl 18:45-20:00: Closing DJ set Showcase: The ULJ Pinterest Board
