About the event Illyria Outdoor Theatre at the Lincolnshire Showground – 22nd August Childless toymaker Geppetto lovingly carves a wooden puppet, unaware of the whirlwind of chaos he is about to set loose. Pinocchio, longing for adventure, runs away in search of excitement – but instead finds dazzling temptations hiding unexpected dangers. Returning home in hope of sympathy, he soon discovers that his troubles are far from over. Running away hasn’t worked; lying won’t help. To find the sense of belonging he so desperately craves, he must learn what it truly means to become a real boy. Carlo Collodi’s beloved classic has been translated into more than 260 languages since its original publication in 1883. This summer, Illyria brings the magical coming‑of‑age tale to life in a thrilling outdoor musical production at the Lincolnshire Showground. Event Timings Gates Open: 4:30pm Performance Starts: 6:00pm Venue: Gate 1, Lincolnshire Showground, Lincoln, LN2 2NA What to Bring This is an outdoor theatre performance, so please bring everything you need for a comfortable evening, including: • Picnic blankets • Camping or folding chairs • Your own picnic and refreshments • Warm layers for later in the evening • Waterproof clothing, just in case the weather changes Food & Drink Guests are welcome to bring their own food and drinks to enjoy during the performance. Please note that there will be no on-site catering facilities for this event. Making Yourself Comfortable The performance takes place outdoors on grass, so we recommend bringing seating or blankets suitable for outdoor use. When setting up, please be considerate of other guests and avoid placing chairs where they may obstruct sightlines. Weather As this is an open-air performance, the show will go ahead outdoors.
