About

Ferris & Sylvester are a husband-and-wife duo who have spent the last 10 years writing, recording and performing music together, building an ever-growing and fiercely loyal fanbase. Since meeting as solo musicians at London’s blues joint Spiritual Bar, Issy Ferris & Archie Sylvester have released albums and EPs through their label ‘Archtop Records’ and toured the globe playing festivals and selling out venues. They have married and grown a family. They have relocated from their makeshift kitchen-studio in Streatham Hill and built a studio/label hub in the west country, writing and recording albums. Straddling the worlds of folk, blues, soul and Americana, it is honest storytelling that is at the centre of all they do. It's A Joy To Be Alive (https://www.youtube.com/embed/_c06X7_b2qk?feature=oembed) The duo’s debut EP ‘Made In Streatham’ was released in 2018 and was recorded in their flat’s kitchen, a gamble which found them topping Spotify’s UK Virals chart and packing their car for a year of touring. They shared the stage with their heroes, including Robert Plant, and started to build a devoted fanbase. They were coined as Rolling Stones ‘Americana Acts To Watch’ in 2019, praised for their ‘immaculate harmonies’ and marked as ‘one of the best bands of recent years’ by BBC Introducing. Their debut album ‘Superhuman’ was released in 2022 and talked of their life on the road, playing 100s of shows each year. The album debuted at No.1 in the UK’s Official Blues Chart and picked up ‘UK Album of The Year’ at the 2023 UK Americana Awards. They played stages at Glastonbury and SXSW amongst many, all with a baby on the way. Issy and Archie’s lives took an unexpected turn in 2022 when their son was born 7 weeks early during a festival trip to Nashville. Thousands of miles from home back in England and the lives of baby and mother in question, their introduction to parenthood was far from ordinary. The bandmates married in Centennial Park, Nashville when their son was just ten days old. Determined to return to music, the duo released their second studio album ‘Otherness’ in 2024, which topped both the UK’s Official Folk and Americana charts and received top reviews from the likes of Rolling Stone ‘a manifestation of strength’ and Classic Rock ‘an oasis of beauty’. The album sent the duo on their most successful tour to date, selling out venues across the UK and Germany. Today, Issy and Archie have welcomed their daughter and have released their third studio album titled, ‘It’s A Joy To Be Alive’ which explores finding hope and joy in the darkest parts of life, inspired by the duo’s own experiences in music, marriage and parenthood. Written and recorded in their studio and released through their label Archtop Records, this album is their strongest and most vulnerable.
