We are happy to announce that in honour of the International Day of Eliminating Violence Against Women our next debate will be in collaboration with Exeter UN Women.
22nd November | 6.30-9.00pm| Bateman Lecture Theatre
According to the UN, nearly 1 in 3 women have been abused in their life time, and through lack of reporting and adequate responses from the international community, many of our most vulnerable populations suffer in silence.
Together we will be addressing such issues as intimate partner violence, FGM, poverty, and the impacts Covid19 has had in exacerbating domestic abuse. We hope to create resolutions which will address this topic with the respect and concrete action it deserves.
As always it is important to remind everyone that as a Model United Nations Society we are not debating our own perspectives, and emphasis will be put on acknowledging (and in some cases refuting) the diversity of global stances involved.
The study guide will be released later this week so that everyone will be well acquainted with this serious issue. And since this is a potentially trigger area of diplomacy our Welfare Officer will be on hand at all times.
Any questions? Please let us know!
See you all there!
