Ember Big Band was founded in 2015 under the direction of trombone legend and arranger the late Bill Geldard, BEM. Its repertoire consists mainly of tunes audiences know and love from classic swing, film and musical theatre, through the Great American Songbook to Latin, rock and soul. It has three great singers. The band supports a number of charities often through major concerts at the Leatherhead and Hammond Theatres. These have been conducted by Allan Rogers, Musical Director of the “Strictly Come Dancing” arena tours and hosted by the likes of radio legend Ken Bruce and Norman Pace (half of the legendary Hale and Pace comedy duo). The total raised in the last five years is £70,000. In 2024 Duncan Lamont became the band`s Musical Director. Duncan is a greatly admired saxophone player, composer, arranger and educator. Like his father, Duncan Lamont senior, he loves jazz and big band music and is always in demand for theatre work. His many credits include “Guys and Dolls”, “Sweet Charity”, “Starlight Express” and “Chicago”..
Tickets are £15 in advance (£19 OTD) and can be purchased via the ‘Get Tickets’ button. Doors are at 6 and the show starts at 7:30. Gonna be an evening of well known and loved tunes. KEEPING IT LIVE!
