Clara Montocchio & Mishy Kope

Two singer-songwriters from opposite sides of the equator join together for an intimate evening of song Clara Montocchio is a Viennese singer-songwriter with South African roots. She is joined by her international trio featuring Gregor Aufmesser (double bass) and Gertjie Besselsen (guitar). Her new program includes traditional songs from all over Europe as well as original compositions from her new album „MY VREEMDE KIND“ (Unit Records, 2024), sung in English, Afrikaans, German, French, Yiddish and more. From the majesty of the Austrian alps to the serenity of the South African veld, the audience is taken on a unique journey through song. With a voice that oscillates between warm earthy tones and iridescent clarity, she weaves folkloric landscapes filled with poetry and emotionally charged improvisation. Mishy Kope is a South African singer-songwriter blending Afro-folk and soul with heartfelt storytelling in isiXhosa, her native language. Raised in the Eastern Cape, her music is rooted in personal and social reflection, with powerful, emotive lyrics. Since her 2022 debut single I’ll Wait, she has redefined her sound with songs like Qongqotha, Mama, and Kufa, a bold protest chant and call for hope. Mishy continues to create music that uplifts and inspires.
