Rising stars of art folk, Champion Trees are playing their Cardiff debut on the 12th of August at Porter's. With support from local noise rockers, Enabling Behaviour. London-based band Champion Trees is the word rock/folk/diy musical collaboration of Francis Christie (lyrics, vocals, guitars), Lex Pienaar (bass), James Bickford-Smith (keys, violin), Michael Burke (saxophone) and Michelle Hromin (clarinet). The lush arrangements of their new, independently released second album A Duck’s Water Off My Back are a marked departure from the lean production of the band’s early material. A Duck’s Water Off My Back has greatly expanded the band’s following, earning coverage on BBC Introducing on Radio 6 and critical acclaim from Outside Noise, who maintain that it features “some of the most beautiful poetry we’ve heard in independent music all year”. Enabling Behaviour is an art rock band from Cardiff with elements of psych, post punk and post-rock. Originally from Cornwall and currently based in Wales, the project is a part of Krautpop!’s roster, marrying DIY sonic experimentation with noisy rock n roll. A free ticket guarantees entry till 8:30pm, after the cut off the entry will continue on first come first served basis. Porter's is a wheelchair accessible venue.
