About

Celtic Society's headline event - our annual ceilidh in St Andrews Castle! An amazing event for all, no dance exeperience necesary, just come along, enjoy a great atmosphere and authentic Ceilidh dancing experience! Live music and authentic ceilidh dancing, led by our experienced callers! Followed by a traditional piped procession from the castle to St Andrews pier. • The castle doors will open at 4pm with the ceilidh starting at 4:30pm and running until 6.45pm. A Bagpipe led procession to the pier will then begin at 7:00pm. • You must show ticket on device. • No alcohol - this is a dry event. If you turn up under the influence we will turn you away at the door and you will not be refunded. This is due to safety given there are cliffs around. • You do not have to pay extra to attend the piped procession after the ceilidh. Equally, you do not have to attend the procession if you don't want to. • If wet weather, we will move the ceilidh to a back up venue. Your ticket will be valid at the backup venue. The back up venue is St Leonards School. • If you come to the back up venue and we are at capacity, we will refund your ticket. • If you do not attempt to come to the back up venue, then we will not issue a refund, as you may have been able to attend. • Please wear sensible shoes – no heels. • Please bring appropriate layers as it is likely to be cold. • Feel free to bring a blanket or similar to sit on if you would like. But please don’t bring foldable chairs as this may damage the ground in the castle. • We are providing water but please bring a refillable water bottle as we have limited disposable cups and these are not good for the environment. • Please be aware there will be University of St Andrews photographers and videographers in attendance to capture promotional material. • Please be mindful that we are in a historic castle and please treat it with respect. Do not climb on the masonry, leave litter or disrespect the area in any other manner. • We will have stewards and first aiders that are there to help the event run smoothly and protect the castle. Please treat the stewards with respect. • Any disrespect to stewards, the castle or any other attendees, will not be tolerated and you will be removed from the event and not refunded.
