Androgenius

androgenius is an 8-piece Cape Town-hailing soul-hop outfit with a queer-positive agenda. On a mission to move and groove you, they bridge the gap between infectious pop-funk accessibility (think Jamiroquai) and serious jazz technicality, a carefully curated blend of ‘90s hip hop groove (think TLC), stanky progressions (think D’Angelo’s Voodoo) and sassy vocal delivery (think Prince). Replete with ripping guitar and piano solos that shift rock to straight-ahead jazz, and sometimes even a li’l samba. Their music tells equally badass & bleeding heart stories of love, life & libations. 

This event marks their return to The Commons after over a year (crazy, we know!) and, significantly, the debut of their new horn section.
