Our women’s only book club is back, and this time it's open to everyone! November's read is Butter by Asako Yuzuki, translated by Polly Barton. Rika, a young Tokyo journalist, becomes obsessed with interviewing Manako Kajii, a gourmet cook in prison accused of seducing lonely men with her cooking and then murdering them. Inspired by a real case, it's a rich, darkly funny read about food, desire, friendship and the pressure on women to look and live a certain way. We'll meet at Cosy Club Oxford for drinks, with an art craft provided to keep your hands busy and the conversation flowing. Your £12 ticket includes your craft to take home. Drinks are not included and can be bought on the night. Whether you've devoured every page or only made it halfway, come along. No pressure, just good books, good company and plenty to talk about.
