“A Romeo and Juliet Panto! What will they think of next? Much Ado about Dick Whittington? Henry V and the Beanstalk? Hamlet and the Seven flippin’ Dwarves?” Get ready, Leeds! Nearly two years in the making, we’re ecstatic to announce the arrival of Romeo & Juliet: the Panto to the Riley Smith Theatre! Lockdown blues? They’re behind you! We’ve got innuendo, slapstick, and jokes galore, with a helping of songs from the Backstreet Boys, NSYNC, Queen, the Lonely Island and more to boot. “Two unis both alike in dignity, in fair Leeds where we lay our scene…” Two star-crossed students must contend with university rivalry, villainy, and the high-glam antics of dame Jenna-Friar Lawrence in order to live happily ever after. With the help of their friends, the trusty panto horse, and a chase scene or two, can they overcome the evil Tybalt and avoid tragedy?
