Exciting news everyone, Grandma is up from her afternoon nap and is cordially inviting you all over for some tea and biscuits. and some house music. 04.02.22. Loft. LINE UP: Lucca Du Preez 9:30-11 Alex Hill 11-12 Louis Polturak 12-2 Resident and Co-Founder Lucca Du Preez: Having grown up in the creative Cape Town playground Lucca's love for music and dance was formed. She likes to play high energy sets combining a mix of disco, house, African techno and everything in between that leaves you in your element. Resident Alex Hill: An early love of house drove Alex to explore all corners of the electronic dance music industry. Living in Vienna allowed him to experience a Berlin-inspired music scene in which a near-mythical club culture exists. His experiences there, as well as artists such as N'to, ignited his current passion for progressive and minimal techno music, while retaining his appreciation for the groove that tech and acid house provide. Headliner Louis Polturak: I started mixing at a young age due to an interest in electronic musics history and started listening to acid house from the late 80s Chicago house scene. This progressed to music like techno and breakbeats that came out of the 90s rave scene in the UK. Living and going out in London gave me an understanding of how multiple genres could be incorporated into a mix and has inspired me to DJ in this style. I’m looking forward to playing you my curation of music over the years from mid tempo acid house to funky breakbeats. Over two months my djing went from a residency in a pizza bar to two sold out nights at Corsica studios and XOYO. I’m returning to Corsica studios on the 16th of feb for hopefully another big night! We will be transforming the space into an antiquer's wet dream to give you a real feel for it.
