As many of you were aware Jo had been battling cancer for some time. She has fought recurring cancer for the past three years with bravery and determination never losing her compassion for others or her ‘joie de vivre’ for life. Jo fought this disease without a word of bitterness, or self - pity and was and remains a shining example to us all. Over the past couple of months we have been writing to well-known children's authors and asking them to donate signed books. One for the new library and one to enter into the auction. The response has been overwhelming and some of the books we have received include signed books from Julia Donaldson, Jacqueline Wilson, Claire Freedman, Anne Fine, Michelle Magorian, Michael Morpurgo, Eoin Colfer, David Walliams, Dermot O' Leary and Axel Scheffler. Carol Ann Duffy has also offered to hand write a poem for us! We have also started collecting other items including a selection of art prints, i360 tickets, spa day and lunch/afternoon tea at Alexander house hotel, a bungee jump and a holiday to Malta at a 4-star hotel on bed & breakfast with Mercury Holidays. We are holding a charity ball and auction on 29th June at the East Sussex National tickets will be £45 to include a Fizz reception, 3 course dinner with tea and coffee, disco and auction to raise as much money as we possibly can for these two incredibly worthy causes. MENU CHOICE - the choices are: Starters: * Chicken Liver Parfait, with sundried tomato & red pepper chutney, toasted granary bread * Poached salmon and crab cake with grain mustard sauce * Tomato, mozzarella and basil pesto salad with wild roquette and balsamic dressing (v) Mains: * Roasted Chicken Breast with grilled Mediterranean vegetables, roasted chateau potatoes and Madeira jus * Baked Hake fillet on champ potatoes, green beans and pawn butter sauce * Warm sun blushed tomato, spinach and ricotta tart with roasted pepper coulis and saffron potatoes (V) Desserts * Raspberry crème Brulee with short bread biscuit * Rich chocolate and Grand Marnier mousse, brandy snap basket * Cheddar, stilton and brie, Chutney and biscuits IF YOU ARE BOOKING A TABLE PLEASE EMAIL [email protected] WITH ATTENDEES NAMES AND THEIR MENU CHOICE.
