About

We're delighted to announce that the Lord Mayor of Sheffield, Magid Magid will be coming to deliver a talk on behalf of GeogSoc on Monday the 19th of November at 19:00. This will be a talk on how Magid Magid worked his way into becoming the Lord Mayor of Sheffield just 24 years after arriving in the UK as a Child Refugee. The Lord Mayor will be discussing everything from Climate Change through to the Cathedral Archer Project, and this is an event not to be missed at any cost. Our Tour Secretary Shaun Perryment will be interviewing the Lord Mayor in front of a huge lecture theatre, asking him just generally about his life, his time in Sheffield, how the world is now, and what the biggest challenges are that we face in the 21st Century. This is a free event to attend, and tickets will be made available in the coming days. It's also worth mentioning that our chosen charities will also be in attendance, should you wish to find out about the great work that they get up to! Priority Tickets will be made available online from Monday at 10:00am for Geographers and will be then made available for the rest of the University population from Wednesday at 12:00pm. Spaces are likely to book up very quickly, so make sure you're on the ball when tickets are released. As Always, Geog Love x
