Turl Street Arts Festival is delighted to welcome Prof. Peter Davidson to Jesus College to speak on “The Lighted Window in the Dark”, the subject of his upcoming book. Prof Davidson will read from and talk about his current work in progress, a piece of non-fiction on the subject of the lighted window in art and literature, structured as seven walks at nightfall through different cities. After completing both his undergraduate and doctoral thesis at Cambridge he was appointed Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries of London. He then moved on to teach Literature and Art History as Prof. of Renaissance Studies at the University of Aberdeen as well as having curatorial responsibility for the university's five hundred years of library and museum collections. He now teaches in the English Faculty, and as a guest for History of Art faculty, in Oxford. He is also an original writer about landscape and the art : "The Idea of North" (2005), "Distance and Memory" (2013) and the cultural history of twilight "The Last of the Light," published in 2015.
