Wanted by the Kremlin: Ksenia Maximova on Russia's War on Dissent

To be announced, Oxford

À propos

Oxford New Russian Society is delighted to welcome Ksenia Maximova, founder of the Russian Democratic Society UK, London councillor and a leading voice of Britain's Russian anti-war community. In September, the FSB opened a criminal case against her, placed her on a wanted list and accused her of involvement with a "terrorist organisation"; the Russian Democratic Society has also been declared "undesirable" by the Russian authorities. Ksenia will discuss her case, how the Kremlin uses labels such as "extremist" and "terrorist" against its opponents at home and abroad, and what Russian democratic organisations in exile can realistically achieve. The conversation will be followed by an audience Q&A. Attendance is free. 📍 The venue will be communicated by email to registered attendees on the day of the event. ⚠️ Please note: given the designations above, attendees who travel to Russia should be aware of the potential risks under Russian laws on "undesirable" organisations. We will not photograph or film the audience.
