À propos

The Exeter Live Podcast is launching! With free entry for both students and staff, hear live discussions and get to know the History Department better. Tickets are not needed for this event. Episode 1 (pilot) Wednesday Jan 28th, 3:30 - 4:30: a live interview with Dr Alun Withey Dr Alun Withey is a central figure in the history of medicine for his work on the body, particularly his focus on shifting conventions and expectations around facial hair. But he's also, over the course of his career, become a fixture in the world of public history, appearing in documentaries, news stories, and social media. Public history is continually reinventing itself, and in this interview, we're going to get Alun's perspective on where public history is headed next. Episode 2 Wednesday, Feb 4th, 3:30-4:30: a live interview with Dr Gemma Clark Dr Gemma Clark is internationally recognised for her expertise on conflict and violence in Ireland's modern history. What's the path that one takes to study the history of violence? In this interview, we'll explore Gemma's perspectives on violence in modernity, her own path to becoming a historian, and --maybe-- learn something of her side projects, ambitions, and pursuits.  📍 Digital Humanities Seminar Room (East Wing of the Queen's Building).
