Persephone’s Myth is a music and storytelling performance that reimagines a classic Greek myth in post-apartheid South Africa. Drawing on folk and soul, the music moves from slow, intimate songs into rhythmic, dance-driven moments. Original songs and spoken soliloquies weave together to follow a journalist who descends a mineshaft to investigate a mining operation after a mysterious illness spreads through a local community. As her journey unfolds, the music builds in pace and intensity, inviting the audience into an experience that moves between quiet reflection and the impulse to dance.
