À propos

Requiem-to-Come #2 "…full of hope and fully present, unflinchingly connected to everyone in the room and beyond." — Jennifer Steyn This month's performance theme, Radical Ageing at the Edge, is another theatrical act of witness and protest from Tossie van Tonder — a dancing and voicing elder (71) of the Mjoli clan of the Eastern Cape. This is not a performance of love-and-light consolation. It enters more difficult territories, asking what elderhood might become in profoundly troubled times. What changes when we plant seeds and enrich soil for futures we will not inhabit? What forms of authenticity become possible when ageing is performed as creative renaissance? Through dancing-voicing-the-piano and story, Tossie offers a radical affirmation of aliveness and a call for elders to show up fully in a young world.
