Renoir & Love: Trip to the National Gallery

Renoir & Love: Trip to the National Gallery

The National Gallery, London

À propos

For Edgar Wind Society student members only. Join the Edgar Wind Society for a trip to the National Gallery in London to see Renoir and Love, the first major UK exhibition devoted to the French Impressionist in twenty years. From the bustling dance halls of Paris to intimate moments of affection, friendship and courtship, Renoir’s paintings capture the pleasures and complexities of human connection. Bringing together works from collections across the world, the exhibition includes the celebrated Dance at the Moulin de la Galette, on display in the UK for the first time. Our visit will begin with a public introduction to the exhibition by Chiara Di Stefano, Associate Curator of Post-1800 Paintings at the National Gallery, before we explore the paintings at our own pace. We will also be joined by a special guest offering a different perspective on Renoir’s world and the ways in which we look at his art. An opportunity to encounter some of Impressionism’s most celebrated paintings together, and to discover how Renoir made love, in all its forms, a subject of modern art.
