LIMITED SPOTS AVAILABLE! * For our second event in partnership with Saatchi Yates gallery, art dealer and public speaker Sophie Murphy will show us around the gallery’s current exhibition of artworks by Omar El Lahib, as well as discussing Saatchi Yates gallery as a whole. * Saturday 23rd of March at 3PM Saatchi Yates, 14 Bury Street, SW1Y 6AL * Omar El Lahib was born in Sidon, Lebanon in 1986 and studied Fine Art at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf before moving to Cologne with his wife and children. Lahib’s large scale paintings oscillate between figuration and abstraction. These dreamscapes arise from simple sketches, occasionally from earlier pictures the artist could not absolve. In Lahib’s nights, his figures can be found surrounded by colorful trees, textured foliage, and florescent bioluminescence. They feel, think, and hold their own and challenge the viewer or invite us; drawing us into the painting and into the night. El Lahib's work was recently included in a group exhibition at chi K11 Art Museum in Shanghai, China. Sophie Murphy is an art dealer, interviewer & public speaker working with Saatchi Yates since May 2023. Prior to this, Sophie founded her own dealership in 2018 curating exhibitions internationally, and previously worked as a radio & podcast host, interviewing leading contemporary artists such as NYC based Emma Stern and Irish mixed-media artist Dorothy Cross. Originally from Dublin, Sophie has a BA, MA in Philosophy, and an MSc in Interactive Media from Trinity College, Dublin. * The tour will last 30mins, followed by 30mins of Q&A. * Register (free)!
