Multilateralism, trade diplomacy and human rights in tumultuous times

Join us for a fireside chat with sir simon Manley KCMG. Simon is a senior UK diplomat with 35 years of experience across trade, security and human rights. As former UK ambassador to the WTO and UNA in Geneva from 2021-2025, Simon negotiated with China amongst many other countries on pivotal issues of trade and human rights in a pivotal time for the world. Simon was UK ambassador to Spain from 2013-2019 and worked extensively across the UN and EU as a diplomat, starting in 1990. Simon will be reflecting on his time in diplomacy, the current state of the international system and multilateral institutions and his engagement with issues regarding China in particular, followed by a Q&A.
