Ian Williams Memorial Match: Men's Blues vs Richmond

We are proud to be hosting the 5th Ian Williams Memorial Match at Iffley Road, on Saturday 24th October. Kick off is at 2.00pm. The two clubs have built kinship over many years, exemplified by celebrating Ian's rugby life on this date. Ian Williams was a talented tighthead prop and a beloved figure both on and off the field. Born in Chichester, Ian attended Sherborne School and played mini rugby at Havant RFC and youth rugby at London Welsh before joining the Richmond U21s. He went on to represent Richmond’s 1st XV and the Heavies, touring with the club while studying at Swansea University, where he played in three Welsh Varsity matches, before winning three more Varsity caps for University of Oxford. Having Richmond and OURFC take the field in his memory this year feels especially fitting. We are anticipating lively crowd of Iffley Road regulars, with drinks flowing from the Pavilion Bar and the student-run Drunken Ferret, and food trucks serving deliciously oozing burgers and loaded fries, and freshly-made doughnuts with melted chocolate.
