Fireside chat and Q&A with Paul French

Join us for a chat and Q&A session with Paul French on 25 November! Paul French is the author of multiple history books about twentieth-century China. His 2011 true crime book Midnight in Peking, investigating the 1937 murder of a nineteen-year-old British girl in Beijing, has featured in the Best Seller lists of the New York Times and the South China Morning Post. His most recent work, Her Lotus Year, explores Wallis Simpson’s tour in China during the Roaring Twenties and has received accolades in the Guardian and the Times. Mr. French’s works have also dived into Republican Shanghai’s underworld and modern North Korean politics. In addition to his own writings, Mr. French is the Series Editor for the Bloomsbury Asian Arguments series, which introduces the new opportunities and challenges facing contemporary Asian nations to a broader audience. Earlier in his career, he was also a remarkably successful China markets strategist for over 14 years (1998–2014) at a time critical for the Chinese economy.
